Boating Regatta, August Party and a List of Upcoming Events (Final Week of Program)
The week started with an epic August party on Saturday night. “Return to Woodstock”, organized by Zach Cohen and Stuart Clelland was a great success. Large crowds turned out early in the evening to listen to Peter Jarvis and Kelly’s musical performance. Several people even took to the dance floor before 9pm! Following the musical performance, the party continued with the sounds of Scratch Bastid until the early hours of the morning. Dressed in clothing from the 70’s, everyone enjoyed the fantastic party! Thanks to the organizing crew for putting together a very memorable event!
Earlier in the day, several youth and adults participated in the boating regatta. The races started with the long distance paddle around Swan’s island, followed by many close and entertaining races. As usual, “six in a canoe” and Hurry Scurry were among the favorite races. After the junior tilting competition, the senior races started. The beautiful weather and calm waters made the day even more enjoyable for paddling. Congratulations to all participants and we look forward to seeing some of you out at the waterski regatta this coming weekend (7am, Saturday morning).
Swimming lessons continued this week, with many youth finishing up their courses with tests and evaluations. The National Lifeguard tests were held on Monday and the lifesaving tests took place on Thursday afternoon. Congratulations to everyone who completed their swimming levels this summer.
Tri-Lake was held on Wednesday at Lac Marois. Many families travelled to compete in the swimming competition. It was a beautiful day and despite not winning, everyone had a great time! We will work hard to regain the title next year!
Sadly, the summer program at the club is coming to an end. During the final week of the program, swimming lessons on Monday and Wednesday will take place at 10:30am. All levels will swim together and participate in a variety of water games. The toddler lessons on Tuesday and Thursday will continue to take place at 11:30am. The afternoon and evening programs will continue throughout the week, including a hockey tournament on Tuesday afternoon and a Family Waterpolo game on Thursday at 2:00pm.
All members are invited to attend the annual AGM meeting on Sunday at 2pm. In addition, prize giving will take place on Saturday at 7pm.
For many of us, this will be the final week of summer before heading back to the school/city routine. Wishing you a wonderful final week of the program! It is amazing how quickly a fun filled summer goes. I know I am already dreading the return to work and school life ;-)
