Swimming Regatta, Super Happy Fun Night and Much More!

The youngest members of the club have been busy this past week. Last Friday, July 25th, many children made pizzas and cookies during Art and Story time. The new oven was put to good use and it didn’t let us down. The children enjoyed making pizzas and eating picnic style at the club. Monday morning, several younger members (2-6yrs old) participated in a “challenge course” behind the club where they had to complete 10 fun, educational and athletic tasks. In addition, they played some parachute games inside, as well as musical tag. It was great to see so many young members participate this past week. Parents and Tots will run next Monday, August 4th at 10am for the final time this summer.
Monday afternoon, despite rain and cooler water temperatures, the Green Island Swim took place. Sadie Logan won the swim with a time of approximately 18 mins 30 seconds and many others beat their personal best. Congratulations to everyone who participated this year. After the swim, the youth gathered on the bleachers for the annual youth photo. Thank you to Trish and Mike Bourne for taking the photo.
On Tuesday, the lifesaving groups continued to prepare for their tests in the coming weeks. Throughout the summer, the teenagers work hard to complete their Bronze Star, Bronze Cross and National qualifications. Good luck to everyone in the coming weeks as they prepare for the final tests.
Throughout the week, many people continue to swim laps, participate in Yoga and Pilates, as well as Aquafit to keep fit and warm! Thank you to all the volunteers who run these activities – Kathy and Neil, Cheryl and Trish/Debbie. It is nice to feel in shape, if only for the summer ;-)
The Biathlon took place Thursday afternoon and Super Happy Fun Night Thursday evening. The Centennial Golf Tournament took place on Friday and thankfully the sun came out for most of the day. Thank you to the Walkers for organizing the event and to the youth council for running all the events at Super Happy Fun Night.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at the boating regatta starting with the Junior competition at 9am. The Senior races will start around 2pm, followed by the highly anticipated August Dance (Return to Woodstock), staring Peter Jarvis’ band (8:30pm) and DJ Skratch Bastid (11pm). Prizes will be given for best costume, so get your hippie and Woodstock attire ready!

Club Survey
Last fall the executive sent out a survey to members. Several members answered the survey, although we would like to hear from more of you. If you didn’t get a chance to fill out the survey, please take a few moments this summer. The results will help us organize for next summer. Survey: http://tinyurl.com/silfcsurvey2014
