July 19th-July 24th

The week started off with the Classic Boat Show on Saturday. Geoff Cresswell spent many hours organizing the event and it didn't dissapoint! It was truly a memorable event! More than 20 classic boats were on display at the club from 10am-11:30 am for everyone to look at. After the boats paraded around Green Island and up to the village where they stayed on display until 2:30pm. The event was a huge success and attracted a large crowd.

Following the boat show, many members enjoyed sausages and hot dogs at the club. Thanks to the Calder and Zinck families who organized the wiener roast again this year. Adults ate and socialized, while the younger children enjoyed playing on the new play structure that was finished within hours of the wiener roast. With some last minute preparations by the youth council, Skit Night took place and there were many great performances; a mixture of signing and dancing entertained the audience. Congratulations to all participants!

On Monday night, the members had a chance to tie-dye shirts during craft night. Participants learned two techniques – the rock and the swirl. The shirts look awesome. Thanks to the organization by Tara Ticehurst many people are now ready with shirts for the August party!

Tuesday, the youth participated in the bi-lake hosted by Lac Manitou. A friendly competition in preparation for the swimming regatta this weekend, as well as the tri-lake in a couple of weeks. Swimmers participated in a variety of races and were happy to win gummies at the end of each race.

On Wednesday, the skies cleared just in time for the ladies luncheon hosted by Elise Letour, Lynn Logan and Nicole Deschamps. As always the variety of food was superb and delicious, as was the company. It is always so much fun to get the women of the lake together for this wonderful yearly tradition. Some trivia (answers from the Centennial Chronocle) was entertaining and definitely brought out a few laughs. It was a fun filled social event that is always a yearly favorite.

Thursday night a large group of adults and youth took part in a game of Bingo, organized and run by the youth council. Cards were sold for as little as 0.25$ a round, up to $2.00 for the grand prize. It was once again a great family event!

Reminders:

  • Please hand in your swim-a-thon money by next week.

  • In addition, if you are interested in the acro-nature activity on Wednesday, please sign up at the club and give your money to Liz Bourne by Monday afternoon.

  • Friends of the Lake are updating the phone book. If you would like to change your phone number, please email the information to Peter Kuzik at peterkuzik@hotmail.com

We hope to see everyone at the swimming regatta on Saturday. Races begin at 9am. The schedule of events is listed on the website and will also be available in printed form on Saturday. Let’s all hope for warm, sunny skies and calm water!
